Closed by the same death and disability GR (GR 202607131253183110, 13 July 2026): funeral assistance, heir assistance, body or hearse transport, and artificial limb fitting. Do not apply under those old codes. The old separate maternity rates of Rs 15,000 for a normal delivery and Rs 20,000 for a caesarean delivery were also replaced by the single flat Rs 25,000 maternity amount above.

Education and pension in the July 2026 annexures: passing Class 9 is Rs 20,000 per child and passing Class 11 is Rs 25,000 per child (GR 202607131302408010). The same annexure confirms medical degree Rs 1,00,000 per child per year, engineering degree Rs 60,000 per child per year, residential Sainik school full tuition fee for central Defence Ministry Sainik schools and Rs 10,000 one-time per child for state-recognised schools, foreign post-graduate or PhD tuition fee paid to the university plus allowances as per central government policy for a maximum of 25 children per year, and a Basic Item Kit supplied in kind for Classes 1-8 with no cash amount stated in the GR. Pension is a revised scheme replacing the earlier pension scheme (GR 202607131257143810).

Important: the benefits table further below in this guide still shows pre-July figures. Use the status table at the top of this page for current amounts. Any benefit listed in the last row of the status table is marked status not confirmed after July 2026 revisions, so do not treat its pre-July figure below as current.

Documents and how to apply or check status

Claim within 1 year in these July 2026 schemes: death or disability (GR 202607131253183110), maternity (GR 202607131304591910), and passing Class 9 or Class 11 (GR 202607131302408010). For a death claim, keep ready the death certificate, the heir certificate from the competent authority, the heir’s Aadhaar, and the heir’s bank details; for an accidental death at the construction site, FIR and panchnama material are also required. For maternity, keep ready the birth registration certificate, or a district surgeon certificate about the delivery; if the child dies after delivery, the benefit remains eligible on a district surgeon certificate.

Education assistance in the July 2026 annexure (GR 202607131302408010) is for the first two children of a registered living (active) worker, and if both parents are registered, the benefit is given only once for a child. Apply within 1 year of the pass date shown on the marksheet for the Class 9 and Class 11 pass schemes. For pension (GR 202607131257143810), download the pension form from mahabocw.in and submit it to the District Construction Worker Facilitation Centre officer of the district shown on Aadhaar, with an attested Aadhaar copy, birth proof (birth certificate or school leaving certificate), and an attested bank passbook copy. Give an annual life certificate in November each year. Pension is paid by DBT by the 10th of each month.

Status check: the July 2026 GRs checked here do not state a new online status-check step, so do not rely on the older status steps further below in this guide for a July 2026 claim. Confirm a pending claim with the District Construction Worker Facilitation Centre or the board, and check the official portal mahabocw.in for the current form and centre details.

July 2026 update – frequently asked questions

Question: Is my scheme still open? Answer: Check the status table at the top of this page. Natural death, accidental death at the construction site, disability of 75% or more, maternity, education in the July 2026 annexure, and pension are open or revised under the four GRs dated 13 July 2026. Funeral assistance and heir assistance are closed. Any other benefit in the old table below is marked status not confirmed after July 2026 revisions, because no July 2026 GR was verified for it in this update.

Question: Why did my amount change? Answer: The 13 July 2026 GRs revised the amounts. Natural death assistance changed from Rs 2,00,000 to Rs 3,50,000 one-time to the legal heir, and accidental death at the construction site changed from Rs 5,00,000 to Rs 6,50,000 one-time to the legal heir (GR 202607131253183110). Maternity assistance changed from separate rates of Rs 15,000 for a normal delivery and Rs 20,000 for a caesarean delivery to a single flat Rs 25,000 one-time for the first two children (GR 202607131304591910). The earlier pension scheme was cancelled and replaced by pension of Rs 6,000 per year after 10 years of registration, Rs 9,000 per year after 15 years, and Rs 12,000 per year after 20 years (GR 202607131257143810).

Question: What if my scheme closed? Answer: Do not apply under the old funeral assistance or heir assistance codes. Those schemes were closed by GR 202607131253183110 dated 13 July 2026 and replaced by the revised death and disability scheme. For example, the heir of a registered living (active) worker should check eligibility under the revised scheme: natural death Rs 3,50,000 one-time, accidental death at the construction site Rs 6,50,000 one-time, and disability of 75% or more Rs 2,00,000 one-time, with a claim within 1 year of the event. Body or hearse transport and artificial limb fitting were also closed by the same GR.

Question: Where to check status? Answer: The July 2026 GRs checked here do not state a new online status-check step. Confirm a pending claim with the District Construction Worker Facilitation Centre or the board, and check the official portal mahabocw.in for the current form and centre details. Do not rely on the older status steps further below in this guide for a July 2026 claim.

Every morning, lakhs of construction workers across Maharashtra report to building sites, road projects, and dam works before sunrise. They carry bricks, tie steel bars, and pour concrete in harsh conditions. The work is hard, but the harder question comes later: what happens when work dries up, an illness strikes, or a child needs school fees? The Maharashtra government has built a full welfare system to answer that question, and in 2026 the entire journey from registration to benefit claims runs online.

This guide walks you through everything a construction worker needs to know. We start with what the Bandhkam Kamgar Yojana is and which board runs it, then move to who qualifies, which documents to keep ready, and the complete step-by-step online registration process. You will also find the full list of welfare benefits with amounts, a separate step-by-step guide for claiming benefits after registration, the latest 2026 updates including the fee waiver, official links, helpline numbers, and answers to the most common questions.

What Is the Bandhkam Kamgar Yojana Maharashtra?

The Bandhkam Kamgar Yojana is a welfare scheme for construction workers in Maharashtra. It is run by the Maharashtra Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board, known in short as MAHABOCW or MBOCWW, which works under the Labour Department of the Government of Maharashtra. The board was created under the Building and Other Construction Workers (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) Act, 1996, and has been functioning since 1 May 2011.

In simple terms, the scheme is a safety net for workers engaged in building, road, bridge, dam, power line, plumbing, carpentry, and similar construction activities. Once a worker registers with the board, the worker and the family become eligible to apply for a wide range of benefits covering education, health, social security, and financial assistance. The official portal is mahabocw.in, where registration, annual renewal, and benefit claims are handled completely online.

One of the strongest features of the scheme is Direct Benefit Transfer. Approved benefit amounts are sent straight to the worker’s bank account through DBT, which cuts out middlemen and delays. For this, the bank account must be seeded with Aadhaar.

Who Is Eligible? Complete Conditions

A worker must meet the following conditions to register. These are also listed on the board’s official help page.

  • Age: Between 18 and 60 years. New registration is not possible after 60.
  • 90 days of work: The worker must have done construction work for at least 90 days in the 12 months before applying. A 90-day work certificate, issued by the contractor, developer, or Gram Sevak in the board’s new format, serves as proof. The new format is available on the official website.
  • Maharashtra resident: The worker must live in Maharashtra and work in construction within the state.
  • Form-V: Registration applications are submitted through Form-V.

Which works count as construction? According to the board, the list is long: buildings, roads, railways, irrigation works, dams, canals, power generation and distribution lines, water pipelines, tunnels, stone cutting and crushing, tile work, carpentry, plumbing, gutter work, electrical wiring, installation of fire extinguishers, air-conditioning equipment, lifts, solar panels, interior work, cement concrete work, sports facilities, and public parks. So masons, electricians, plumbers, carpenters, and daily-wage site labourers can all qualify, not just building-site workers.

Documents Checklist for Registration

Keep these documents ready before you start the online form so the process does not stall midway.

  • Age proof – Aadhaar card, school leaving certificate, or birth certificate
  • 90-day work certificate in the board’s new format
  • Residence proof – Aadhaar card, ration card, or voter ID
  • Identity proof – Aadhaar card, PAN card, or voter ID
  • Three passport-size photographs
  • Bank passbook or account details for DBT – the account must be Aadhaar-seeded
  • For renewal – the old registration number and fresh work proof

The board’s official help page mainly asks for the Aadhaar card and the 90-day work certificate, but keeping the full set above ready makes the Form-V process smoother.

How to Register Online – Step by Step

The board has moved the whole registration system online, and paper-based data entry at taluka centres has been discontinued. Follow these steps in order.

  1. Open the official website: Go to https://mahabocw.in on your phone or computer. On the homepage, click the Workers Registration link under the Workers section in the main menu. The form also opens directly at https://mahabocw.in/en/workers-registration/.
  2. Enter Aadhaar and mobile number: Type your Aadhaar number and the Aadhaar-linked mobile number, then click the Proceed to Form button. An OTP will arrive on your mobile – enter it to verify.
  3. Fill the application form: Enter your name, date of birth, address, district, type of work (mason, labourer, carpenter, electrician, and so on), family details, and bank account details accurately.
  4. Upload documents: Upload clear scanned copies of age proof, the 90-day work certificate, residence proof, identity proof, and photographs.
  5. Submit the form: Review everything and submit. You will receive a registration number or acknowledgement – keep it safe.
  6. Book an appointment: After the online application, book a document-verification appointment from the portal dashboard. Choose your district and Facilitation Center, then pick a date and time.
  7. Visit the centre for verification: Go to the assigned Facilitation Center on the fixed date with all original documents. Your registration number is issued after verification is complete.

The process usually completes within 15 to 30 days after verification. Once you receive the registration number, you get the board’s card, which is essential for claiming benefits.

Why Annual Renewal Matters

Board rules say registration stays valid for only one year. If you do not renew, the membership becomes inactive and no benefit claim can be made. To renew, click the Renewal tab on mahabocw.in and submit the renewal application with a fresh 90-day work certificate showing construction work done in the year before the application.

The good news: as per the official notice dated 13 August 2025, no registration or renewal fee is now charged from construction workers. A nominal fee and annual subscription were charged earlier, but both stand waived.

How to Claim a Benefit – Step by Step Guide

Many workers complete registration but never learn how to claim the benefits. The process below covers the general claim flow, plus the documents each type of benefit needs. The board states that claim documents are scheme-specific and appear on the portal while applying for each benefit.

  1. Log in to the portal: Sign in at https://mahabocw.in using your Aadhaar number and mobile OTP. The IWBMS portal (iwbms.mahabocw.in) also has the claim option.
  2. Choose the right scheme: In the dashboard, go to the Welfare Schemes or Claim section and select the benefit you need – education assistance, maternity assistance, marriage assistance, or death assistance.
  3. Fill the claim form: Complete the online form for that scheme. Every scheme’s form is also available on the board’s download page.
  4. Attach scheme-specific documents:
    • Education assistance – the child’s bonafide certificate, previous year’s marksheet, 75% attendance proof (school level), 50% or more marks for Classes 10-12, proof of current-year admission, and the new Education Self-Declaration form that has been mandatory since January 2026.
    • Maternity assistance – birth certificate and hospital medical documents.
    • Serious illness – certificates and treatment records from a competent medical authority.
    • Disability – disability certificate from a medical board.
    • Marriage assistance – marriage certificate and an affidavit of first marriage (for a daughter’s marriage, the daughter’s Aadhaar and birth certificate).
    • Death assistance – death certificate, legal heir proof, and bank details.
  5. Book an appointment: After submitting the claim, book a Facilitation Center appointment on the portal and attend on the fixed date with original documents. Missing the appointment can lead to rejection.
  6. Track the status: Log in and check the Renewal Status or the relevant claim section – you will see stages like Pending Verification, Approved, or Disbursed.
  7. Receive money through DBT: After approval, the amount is sent directly to your Aadhaar-seeded bank account. The Benefits Transferred section on mahabocw.in also shows district-wise payment lists.

Latest 2026 Updates Every Worker Should Know

  • Fee fully waived: As per the official notice dated 13 August 2025, no registration or renewal fee is now charged from construction workers.
  • New Education Self-Declaration form: In January 2026 the board released a new self-declaration format for education assistance. Applications on the old format are being rejected, so use only the new form for children’s scholarships.
  • Appointment dates extended: Appointment dates for registration, renewal, and claims have been extended till 31 December 2026. Use the new 90-day work certificate format from the official website.
  • Fully online system: All applications now go through mahabocw.in or the IWBMS portal. Paper-based data entry at taluka centres has been discontinued.
  • DBT focus: All cash benefits go only to Aadhaar-seeded bank accounts. Money can get stuck if the account is not linked to Aadhaar.
  • Safety kits and Bhandi Vatap: Distribution of household utensil sets and safety kits for registered workers is underway. Book an appointment slot on the portal and collect the kit from the assigned centre.
  • Pension in the works: A pension scheme for workers above 60 has been proposed, with the Labour Department suggesting Rs 12,000 per year. The July 2026 GRs reportedly set slabs of Rs 6,000, Rs 9,000, and Rs 12,000 per year for 10, 15, or 20 years of registration. Check the official notification for the final rules.

What to Do If Your Application Is Rejected or Money Is Delayed

  • Check the rejection reason: Log in to the portal and see why the application was rejected. Common reasons are wrong details, document mismatch, incomplete forms, or old formats such as the outdated Education Self-Declaration.
  • Fix the mistake: Log in with the Aadhaar-linked mobile OTP and update your profile. If your mobile number changed, add the new number through the profile update section.
  • Reapply: Apply again with correct, clear documents. Every detail must match your Aadhaar and supporting papers.
  • Contact the helpline: Call the toll-free number 1800-8892-816 (10:00 AM to 6:00 PM) or email support@mahabocw.in. The department numbers (022) 2657-2631, (022) 2657-2632, and 7400012262 are also available.
  • Visit a centre: Go to the nearest District Labour Facilitation Center with your original documents for on-ground help.
