Every family in Punjab has been through the same trouble at some point. What is Digi Punjab?

Digi Punjab is the Punjab government’s unified digital portal — one single place to reach the state’s different government services. Earlier, every service had its own portal. One job was on one website, another job on a second website. People found it hard to remember where to go for which work. Digi Punjab removes that confusion. It is a mobile-friendly platform, which means you can use it on your phone as easily as on a computer.

The biggest feature of the portal is that every service has a fixed timeline. When you apply for something, the number of days in which the work must be finished is already decided. If the work is not done in that time, the delay is recorded against the concerned officer. At the launch, Minister Aman Arora said clearly that corruption grows where there is no accountability, and this portal brings that accountability. He said no file will simply disappear now, because every application will be tracked, timed and answerable.

At the launch it was also shared that before this portal, only 30 services in Punjab were truly online. For everything else, people had to visit offices, wander across different portals and often depend on agents. Digi Punjab was built to change that old system. The minister said that now citizens will not chase the government — governance will reach the citizen.

There was also four years of preparation behind the portal. According to the government, more than 76 lakh beneficiaries have been digitised under the Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojana and over 2 crore QR-coded certificates have been delivered through SMS and WhatsApp. More than 45,000 patwaris, sarpanches and councillors have processed over one crore applications from their mobile phones. This shows that Digi Punjab did not appear suddenly — it stands on a digital system built step by step.

Which services are available on Digi Punjab?

At launch, Digi Punjab offered 300+ services from 12 departments. The government said that all 800+ services of the state would be added to the portal within the next two months. Below is the list of the main services mentioned at the launch. Services keep getting added to the portal, so before applying, always search for your service by name on the portal’s Services page.

Health department services

Essential documents like birth certificates and death certificates are available on this portal. Medical fitness certificates can also be obtained here. These are the documents needed everywhere — from school admission to jobs and passports.

Home affairs and police services

The issue and renewal of arms licences is included in the portal’s services. Police verification services are also available here, including tenant and servant verification. If you have taken a new tenant or hired someone to work at home, you can get their police verification done without visiting a separate office.

Marriage registration

Marriage registration under the Punjab Compulsory Registration of Marriages Act and the Anand Marriage Act is also available on Digi Punjab. This service is very useful after marriage, because the marriage certificate is needed for passports, visas and many government jobs.

Revenue department services

Revenue certificates such as income certificate, residence certificate and backward area certificate are available on the portal. These certificates are the most commonly demanded documents for scholarships, jobs and government schemes.

Social justice and social security

Caste certificates are available as a social justice department service on the portal. Social security pension services are also available here, which help senior citizens, widows and persons with disabilities with pension-related work.

Services from other departments

Labour welfare schemes, property transfers under the local government department, medical education registrations and water supply connection sanctions are also among the portal’s services. In addition, the portal shows facilities like grievance filing, RTI, Flood Relief Survey, Punjab Secretariat Pass and Sewa Kendra Token.

How to apply for a service on Digi Punjab?

Applying on the portal has been kept simple. Read the steps below carefully and follow them in order.

Step 1: Open digi.punjab.gov.in in the browser on your phone or computer. On the homepage you will see the list of services and a search option.

Step 2: Search for the name of the service you want to apply for. You can also filter services by department. Click on the service once you find it.

Step 3: Read the service details — which documents are needed, what the fee is, and in how many days the work will be completed. Reading this first helps you avoid mistakes while filling the form.

Step 4: Fill in your details and upload the required documents. The documents should be clear and readable. A blurred photo or an incomplete document can delay your application.

Step 5: If there is a fee for the service, pay it online. After payment you will get a reference number or application number. Keep it safe — this is your tracking number for the work.

Step 6: After submitting the application, you will get updates on SMS or WhatsApp. You can also check the status of your application on the portal itself.

If you do not have a smartphone or internet access, there is no need to worry. Sewa Kendras will continue to run as before, and the doorstep delivery service on 1076 is also available. People who cannot apply online can visit a Sewa Kendra or call 1076 for help.

How to track your application status?

After applying, the biggest question is always: how far has my work reached? Digi Punjab has a Track Application facility for this, available on the portal at the /trackApplication page.

Step 1: Open digi.punjab.gov.in and go to the Track Application option.

Step 2: Enter the reference number or application number you received while applying.

Step 3: The current status of your application will appear on the screen — whether the application is received, under checking, or the work is complete.

Apart from this, you can also track your application through the mobile app and WhatsApp. At the launch it was made clear that tracking will work through the web, the mobile app and WhatsApp, so that every citizen can use the option that suits them. Since every service has a fixed timeline, if your work is not completed in time, accountability is also fixed.

How to file a complaint on Digi Punjab?

If your work is not done in the fixed time, or you face any problem with a service, you can file a complaint. The Digi Punjab portal has a grievance facility, and the connect.punjab.gov.in portal is also linked for complaints.

Step 1: Open the Digi Punjab portal and go to the Grievance option.

Step 2: Write the details of your complaint — which service has the problem, what your application number is, and what went wrong.

Step 3: After submitting the complaint, you will get a complaint number. Keep it safe, because you will need it to check the status of your complaint.

At the launch, the minister told officers to treat every complaint received on the portal like a complaint from their own family. That means a complaint is not just for recording — it must be resolved. If you do not get a reply to your complaint, you can also call the state helpline 1100 for help.

How to download the Digi Punjab app?

If you want to use all services from your phone itself, you can download the Digi Punjab mobile app.

Step 1: Open Google Play Store on your phone if you use an Android phone. iPhone users should open the Apple App Store.

Step 2: Search for — Digi Punjab. Check the developer name and app details to identify the official app.

Step 3: Tap Install, and once the app opens, log in with your details.

Step 4: From the app you can apply for services, check application status and receive notifications.

One important warning: always download the app from the official store only. Never download the app from an unknown link or APK file, because that can put your phone and your information at risk.

Ration card and Digi Punjab — what is the truth?

This is the most important part of this article, so read it carefully. These days, “digi punjab ration card” is being searched a lot on Google. Many people think that a ration card can be made from Digi Punjab, or that its status can be checked there. But the truth is that there is no ration card service on Digi Punjab.

We checked the homepage and the Services page of digi.punjab.gov.in ourselves on 8 November 2026. The words “Ration Card” do not appear anywhere on either page. The 300 services mentioned at the launch also did not include any ration card service. So if someone tells you to apply for a ration card on Digi Punjab, that information is wrong.

Ration card services in Punjab run on separate portals, and they continue to work as before. For a new ration card, checking your name in the list, checking status, or downloading a ration card, use the official portals below:

Work Correct portal
Search ration card beneficiary, see FPS transactions epos.punjab.gov.in
New ration card application (when the application window is open) ercms.punjab.gov.in
Download ration card DigiLocker app or website
Help or complaint related to ration Helpline 1967

We have explained the full process for Punjab ration cards — application, documents, eligibility and status check — in our detailed guide. Read it here: Punjab Ration Card Apply Online 2026. That guide is about the real ration card portals, not Digi Punjab, so follow that for ration card work.

One more thing to remember — if any person or website asks you for money in the name of a ration card, or says they will get your ration card made through Digi Punjab, be careful. There is no need to pay any agent for government services. The correct portal and the correct information are your biggest protection.

Helpline numbers — all in one place

Service Number Use it for
Digi Punjab state helpline 1100 Help related to the portal and services
Doorstep delivery service 1076 Getting a service at home
Ration helpline 1967 Help related to ration card and FPS

Sewa Kendras and doorstep service — for those who cannot go online

Not everyone has a smartphone or internet access. Senior citizens, people living in villages and citizens who are not comfortable filling online forms can still use Sewa Kendras, which will continue to run as before. You can visit your nearest Sewa Kendra to apply for Digi Punjab services. The token facility for Sewa Kendras is also linked to the portal.

On top of this, the doorstep delivery service on 1076 also continues. You can call and ask for a service from home. At the launch, the minister said that where technology has not yet reached, Sewa Kendras and the 1076 doorstep service will be the bridge that brings the government to the people. So if you cannot apply online, this route is for you.

Things to keep in mind while using Digi Punjab

Open only the correct website: Always type digi.punjab.gov.in. Do not enter your details on any other website with a similar name.

Keep your reference number safe: The reference number you get after applying is the identity of your work. Write it down or keep a screenshot of it.

Keep documents ready in advance: Before starting an application, keep photos or scans of the required documents ready, so you do not get stuck while filling the form.

Never share your OTP with anyone: A government portal never asks for OTP or password on a phone call. If someone asks for your OTP, it could be a fraud.

Stay away from agents: There is no need to pay any agent for Digi Punjab services. Do the work yourself or visit a Sewa Kendra.
