FAQs
Which date applies to me?
The date of the department that runs your scheme. There is no single SSP last date, so do not use another department’s date.
What if my department’s date has passed?
That department’s schemes are closed for this cycle, even if other departments are still open. Check the next cycle or another scheme for which you are eligible, and confirm on the official portal.
What is OTR/Aadhaar seeding?
OTR means One-Time Registration. Aadhaar seeding links your bank account to your Aadhaar so DBT payments can reach you. Complete Aadhaar seeding before applying, and check the official portal for any registration step that applies to your scheme.
Where do I check my status?
On the official SSP portal, ssp.karnataka.gov.in, after logging in, and through your school or college scholarship nodal officer if needed.
For lakhs of students studying in Karnataka, a scholarship is a very big support. If scholarship money comes for fees, books, hostel, and daily expenses, the burden of studies becomes much lighter. But the biggest problem was that students had to apply at different places for scholarships of different departments, and the last date was not known. The solution to this problem is Karnataka’s State Scholarship Portal, known as SSP. In this article we will give complete information about the SSP Scholarship.
In this article we will first understand what the SSP Portal is and which scholarships are available on it. After that we will see the table of last dates of different departments for 2026-27, so that you know which application is still open and which has already closed. In the end we will talk about eligibility, necessary documents, important rules like OTR and SATS ID, the step-by-step apply process, and ways to avoid rejection. So read the article till the end.
If you are a student of Karnataka, or your children are studying in Karnataka, this information will be very useful for you. After the last date passes, there is no chance to apply, so applying on time is very important. Let us start and understand each important point one by one in detail.
What Is the SSP Portal?
SSP stands for State Scholarship Portal. It is a single portal of the Government of Karnataka where you can apply for all state scholarship schemes. Earlier students had to visit the websites of different departments. Now with one account on SSP, you can apply for scholarships of different departments.
There are mainly two tracks on SSP: pre-matric and post-matric. The pre-matric scholarship is for students of Class 1 to Class 10. The post-matric scholarship is for students studying after Class 10, such as PUC, ITI, diploma, degree, postgraduate, and professional course students. The application process is slightly different for both tracks, so choose your track correctly.
The aim of SSP is to make the scholarship process simple, transparent, and fast. The application is online, documents are uploaded online, and payment comes directly into the student’s bank account through Direct Benefit Transfer. That is why having an Aadhaar seeded bank account is very important.
Eligibility: Who Can Apply?
The first condition for the SSP Scholarship is Karnataka domicile. That means the student must be a resident of Karnataka and must be studying in a recognised institution in Karnataka. If a student is from Karnataka but is studying in another state, generally he or she will not be eligible for this scholarship.
The second condition is related to category. Different departments give scholarships for different groups. The Social Welfare Department gives scholarships for SC students, the Tribal Welfare Department for ST students, the Backward Classes Welfare Department for OBC and Category-1 students, and the Minorities Welfare Department for students of minority communities. Apart from these, there are also scholarships from Disability Welfare, Labour Department, Technical Education, and special boards.
The third condition is related to the income limit. Every department has a different income limit, and it can change from time to time. In this article we are not giving any imaginary income figure, because a wrong figure can mislead you. Do check the current income limit of your category in your department’s official notification before applying. Keep the RD numbers of your caste certificate and income certificate ready before applying.
The fourth condition is related to studies. The student must be studying regularly and must have passed the previous class. Some scholarships may also have a condition of minimum attendance or minimum marks. In post-matric, the academic data of the student must be in UUCMS or UNIDATA, only then the application will move forward.
SSP Scholarship Last Date 2026-27: Department-wise Table
Below are the last dates of different departments for 2026-27. Keep in mind that every department has a different last date, and the department can also extend this date. Before applying, always confirm the current last date on the official portal ssp.karnataka.gov.in. For a date that has already passed, no application will be accepted.
| Department | Pre-Matric Last Date | Post-Matric Last Date | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Backward Classes Welfare Dept | 30 Sep 2026 | 31 Oct 2026 | Pre-matric closed, Post-matric open |
| Social Welfare Dept | 31 Dec 2026 | 31 Jan 2027 | Both open |
| Tribal Welfare Dept | 31 Dec 2026 | 31 Dec 2026 | Both open |
| Minorities Welfare Dept | 30 Nov 2026 | 30 Nov 2026 | Both open |
| Disability Welfare Dept | 30 Sep 2026 | 30 Nov 2026 | Pre-matric closed, Post-matric open |
| Technical Education Dept | 30 Sep 2026 | 31 Oct 2026 | Pre-matric closed, Post-matric open |
| Brahmin Development Board | – | 31 Dec 2026 | Post-matric open |
| Labour Dept | 31 Dec 2026 | 31 Dec 2026 | Both open |
| Arya Vysya Board | – | 30 Nov 2026 | Post-matric open |
The most important point in the table above is that the Backward Classes Welfare Department post-matric last date is 31 Oct 2026, and it is confirmed on the official BCWD page. If you come under BCWD and are studying in post-matric, complete your application before this date. On the last date the portal becomes very crowded, so do not wait for the last day.
The last date of 30 Sep 2026 has already passed for pre-matric of many departments. If your pre-matric application was missed, contact your school and keep taking information about next year or extension. For post-matric, the dates of most departments are still open, so post-matric students still have a chance.
Necessary Documents and Advance Preparation
Before applying on SSP, keep the documents and information given below ready. Documents are generally uploaded in PDF or JPG format, and the file size should be a maximum of 2MB.
- Aadhaar card and Aadhaar seeded bank account (mandatory for DBT)
- RD number of caste certificate
- RD number of income certificate
- SSLC registration number
- SATS ID for pre-matric
- Marksheet of previous class
- Admission proof of college or school and fee receipt
- Passport size photo and signature
- Disability certificate (if applicable)
Pay special attention to the bank account. The bank account must be seeded with Aadhaar and must be in the name of the student. If the bank account is not linked with Aadhaar, the scholarship money will not come, even if the application is approved. Do check the Aadhaar seeding status by visiting the bank.
OTR, KUTUMBA, SATS ID, and UUCMS: Understand Them
While applying on SSP, you will hear some new terms. It is very important to understand them, because if any one of them is missing, the application can get stuck.
OTR (One-Time Registration): For OBC, SC, and ST students, OTR on the National Scholarship Portal is mandatory. OTR is a one-time registration in which your identity and documents are verified. Without OTR, the SSP application will not be completed. If you have not done OTR yet, complete it first.
SATS ID: For pre-matric students, SATS ID is necessary. This ID is received through the school and is linked to the academic record of the student. Pre-matric status is also tracked with SATS ID. Get your SATS ID from your school.
UUCMS / UNIDATA: The academic data of post-matric students must be in UUCMS or UNIDATA. If your college has not updated your data in this system, the details of your course or college will not show on SSP. In such a situation, contact the admin of your college.
KUTUMBA: KUTUMBA registration is optional. It is the family database of Karnataka. If you have KUTUMBA registration, some information is received easily, but the application can be done even without it. So do not stop your application for KUTUMBA.
Online Apply Process: Step-by-Step Guide
Below is the complete step-by-step process for the SSP Scholarship. Keep all your documents and RD numbers ready before applying.
- Open the portal: Open the official portal ssp.karnataka.gov.in in your browser. Use only the official portal. Do not enter your information on any fake website.
- Create an SSP account: If you do not have an account, click on Create Account. Create an account by entering your Aadhaar number, mobile number, and necessary details. Old students can log in with their previous year’s account.
- Choose pre-matric or post-matric: After login, choose your track. Pre-matric students should choose the option for Class 1 to 10, and post-matric students should choose the option for after Class 10. Choosing the wrong track will make the application wrong.
- Fill the details: Fill your name, father’s name, date of birth, category, income details, school or college details, course, and marks of previous class. Fill details like RD number and SATS ID carefully.
- Upload documents: Upload the necessary documents in PDF or JPG. The size of each file should be less than 2MB. Do not upload a blurred or incomplete photo, because it can lead to rejection of the application.
- Submit the form: Check all information once again and click on submit. After submission you will get an application ID. Keep it safe and take a print or screenshot.
- Track the status: Pre-matric students can track their status with SATS ID. Post-matric students can see their application and DBT payment status remarks through SSP login. If any shortcoming is shown in the payment remarks, correct it quickly.
After submitting the application, also get it verified from your school or college. Many times the application moves forward only when the institution verifies it. So do not sit quietly after submitting, keep in touch with your institution.
Common Reasons for Rejection and Fixes
Every year many students’ applications are rejected due to small mistakes. Below are the most common reasons and their fixes.
- Bank account is not Aadhaar seeded: Visit the bank, get Aadhaar seeding done, and check the status again.
- RD number is wrong: If the RD number of the caste or income certificate is entered wrong, verification fails. Enter only the correct RD number written on the certificate.
- Income is more than the limit: If your family income is more than the limit of the department, the application will be rejected. Check the current income limit of your department in the notification.
- Document is not clear: A blurred or cut document creates problems in verification. Upload only a clearly scanned document.
- Data is not in UUCMS: Post-matric students should get their academic data updated from their college.
- OTR is not complete: OBC, SC, and ST students should complete OTR on the National Scholarship Portal.
- Duplicate application: Do not make two applications for the same student. A duplicate application can get both rejected.
If your application is rejected, read the reason for rejection carefully. Most reasons can be corrected. After correcting the reason, if there is a chance on the portal, do correction or re-apply. Correcting on time can save the scholarship.
Helpline and Contact
If you are facing any technical problem on the SSP portal or have any issue in your application, you can contact the helpline. The SSP helpline number is 1902. Apart from this, 9482300400 is also reported as the student helpline. Before calling the helpline, keep your application ID and Aadhaar number ready, so that your problem can be understood quickly.
Apart from the helpline, also contact the scholarship nodal officer of your school or college. Many problems are solved at the institution level itself. And for information about other schemes of Karnataka, you can also read new articles on GramSuvidha.
