CM Higher Education Scholarship Rajasthan 2026: Rs 5000 a Year for RBSE Merit Students, Apply by 30 November

Every year, lakhs of students in Rajasthan pass their Class 12 examinations, and then face the same big question: how will they pay for further studies? College fees, books, hostel charges and daily expenses are not easy for an ordinary family to manage. Keeping this problem in mind, the Rajasthan government runs a special scholarship for meritorious students from low-income families, so that a lack of money never stops a bright student from studying further. The scheme is called the Mukhyamantri Uchch Shiksha Chhatravriti Yojana, or the Chief Minister Higher Education Scholarship Scheme.

In this article, we give you the complete details of this scheme — who can apply, what the conditions are, how much help is given, which documents are needed, how to apply step by step, and the last date for the 2026-27 session. We also explain the common mistakes that get applications rejected, so that your form goes through smoothly.

What is the Mukhyamantri Uchch Shiksha Chhatravriti Yojana

The Mukhyamantri Uchch Shiksha Chhatravriti Yojana is a merit-based scholarship scheme of the Government of Rajasthan. It is run through the state’s Higher Education Department and implemented by the Commissionerate of College Education, Rajasthan. Its aim is to give financial help to meritorious students from economically weaker families who want to continue their studies after Class 12, so that financial difficulty does not end their education.

The scheme is meant for students who pass Class 12 from the Board of Secondary Education Rajasthan (RBSE), Ajmer, and secure a place within the first one lakh positions of the board’s merit list. Their family’s annual income must also stay within a fixed limit. Selected students receive a fixed amount every year, and those who continue studying regularly can receive it for up to five years.

One of the best features of this scheme is that the application is fully online and completely free. Students apply through the Rajasthan SSO portal, their college head verifies the documents, and the application then moves forward through the District Nodal Officer before the department sanctions the scholarship.

Latest status for the 2026-27 session

For the financial year 2026-27, the College Education Department has opened the scholarship portal through its notification. Online applications for this session started on 1 October 2026, and the last date to apply is 30 November 2026. Eligible students who have not applied yet still have time until 30 November 2026.

Do not wait for the last days. In the final days, portal traffic rises sharply and technical problems can appear, which may cost you the chance to apply. It is better to keep all documents ready in advance and complete the application well before the deadline.

The state’s 2026-27 budget has set a target of covering one lakh students under this scholarship. Every year, one lakh new eligible students are covered, along with renewal applications from earlier beneficiaries who continue to study regularly in a higher education institution.

How much scholarship is given

Under this scheme, a regular student receives Rs 500 per month for a maximum of 10 months in a year, which means up to Rs 5,000 per year. Divyang students receive a higher amount: students with 40 percent or more disability get Rs 1,000 per month for up to 10 months, which means up to Rs 10,000 per year.

CategoryMonthly amountMaximum per year
Regular studentRs 500Rs 5,000
Divyang student (40% or more disability)Rs 1,000Rs 10,000

The department pays the scholarship on an annual basis. A regular student can receive the benefit for a maximum of 5 years, as long as they continue studying regularly in a higher education institution. If a student leaves studies before 5 years, the benefit stays valid only for the years already completed. Students who received the scholarship last year can continue to receive it through renewal, if they study regularly.

Eligibility conditions

To apply for this scholarship, a student must meet ALL of the following conditions. Even one unmet condition can lead to rejection, so check every point carefully before applying.

  • The student must be a native (mool niwasi) of Rajasthan.

  • The student must secure a place within the first one lakh positions of the board’s merit list.
